THURSDAY APRIL 11

BEATFREAK

I took one quick glimpse at the poster for this night and instantly broke into a fevered sweat. Album artwork for Teenage Fanclub, Daft Punk, De La Soul, Book of Love, Sam and Dave, Afrika Bambaataa, the Nazz, etc. all harmoniously sharing space. This week I understand! DJ Suspence, Brian Weber, DJ K.O., and Michiko Swiggs throw down. A sexy beat is a sexy beat. The Baltic Room, 1207 Pine St, 625-4444.

FRIDAY APRIL 12

WE LOVE FRIDAYS

A great way to start off your weekend if you want to have drinks with friends or check out some of your favorite local and touring house DJs in a space so cozy that you better remember to change your underwear. Resident DJ/promoter Chris Fields takes the name of this evening to heart and lets you know that it's quite all right to celebrate. The Corner Bar, Second and Virginia, 269-6388.

SATURDAY APRIL 13

STEREOTYPE

Brian Lyons is at it again, this time setting up camp in a nicely remodeled space that used to be the old Art Bar. The candlelit environment with plenty of space makes this perfect for checking out Brian's smooth West Coast house style. Noc Noc, 1516 Second Ave, 622-4344.

Sunday April 14

YO, SON!

Chop Suey is throwing a Sunday night hiphop party, so now there's no excuse for you lazy bastards who won't leave the Hill. I'm told that resident DJs Scene of the Boom Bap Project and DV1 will be spinning low-class, cracked-out beats. If hearing about Ol' Dirty Bastard trying to buy bottles of Moët with his welfare checks brings a smile to your face, this might be the night for you. Chop Suey, 1325 Madison Ave, 324-8000.

MONDAY APRIL 15

BROKEN BEATS

Alfredo and the Circle of Fire crew have been representing Seattle's underground b-boy and b-girl scene on an international level for years. Watch them dance for two seconds and you'll see why. Nation, 1921 Fifth Ave, 374-9492.

TUESDAY APRIL 16

SUGARSHACK UNLIMITED AND COMPOUND RECORDS PRESENTS...

Sugarshack has been successfully putting on a drum 'n' bass party for years, where severe beats and throbbing sub-bass are a given. Remember, if you feel like you're dancing at 300bpm you probably are, but the bass lines are at half the speed. Slow your roll, brotha. With resident DJs Demo, Slantooth, and Nitsuj. The Baltic Room, 1207 Pine St, 625-4444.

Liquifi

Every week the EMP brings in local and national DJs spinning breaks, techno, drum 'n' bass and house. Cheap drink specials and the fact that there is no cover makes this a pretty popular Tuesday-night destination. This space is a bit airy and bright, so if you're feeling like you're trying to dance in the middle of the housewares aisle at Target, just order a few Captain's Booties and have a party in your own mind. Liquid Lounge at the EMP, 325 Fifth Ave, 770-2702.

WEDNESDAY APRIL 17

BUMP

A night of breaks... uprock, toprock, pop, lock, freak the speaker, or just jump up and down and pour your drink on top of your head--it's breaks. DJs Smile, Ki, and Naha are all on a mission. The Last Supper Club, 124 S Washington St, 748-9975.
