CUICA

This kicks off a new monthly party that features artists from the notable acid jazz label Ubiquity Records. Tonight, London's Cuica brings its blend of breaks and beats mixed with Latin percussion and classic grooves. With Mark E. Quark and Atlee. ROBOTRASH

Local techno/electro kingpin Jerry Abstract, along with DJ Dab and Samuel Kirkland, will be playing a set tonight that should soothe the savage beast. Chop Suey, 1325 E Madison St, 324-8000, 10 pm-2 am, 21+, $10.

INLAND KNIGHTS

Nottingham, England's house duo Inland Knights sometimes go by the name Grand Theft Audio and the Party Criminals. This penchant for the illicit must explain their deep-jacking style that has been released by such labels as Panhandle, Doubledown, and Siesta. With Brian Lyons, Wesley Holmes, and Ken Wallace. TOI

This may be old hat to some, but Toi has some similarities to a club like, say, the Baltic Room--but more downtown than Capitol Hill. It's also pretty electronic-music friendly, so if you want to duck into a swanky little spot with downtempo beats on the weekends, check it out. With DJ Tone. THIEVERY CORPORATION

Thievery Corporation gained larger notoriety outside of their already established Eighteenth Street Lounge label after Kruder & Dorfmeister included them on a !K7 mix series. And much like K&D, Thievery Corporation play and produce abstract and jazzy beats for dark lounges and long car rides. With Michael Antonia.
