DELERIUM, CONJURE ONE, SIDESTEPPER

Former Front Line Assembly industrialists Rhys Fulber and Bill Leeb bring their lucrative Delerium project down from Vancouver to soothe us with lush triphop. Supporting their recent disc Chimera (Nettwerk), Delerium let a host of cooing female vocalists add froufrou beauty to their feather-light soundscapes. Showbox, 1426 First Ave, 628-3151, 8 pm, 21+, $16.50 adv, $19 door.

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 5

DEEP DARK FUNK

Like oxygen, water, and sex, funk is essential to a vibrant life. The folks behind Crunk Funk Creations understand this, so they're launching Deep Dark Funk, spotlighting myriad broken-beat styles, including 2-step garage. Featuring DJs Tobias, Joey Fanatic, Gut Boy, and Brendan Reid. Aristocrat's, 220 Fourth Ave S, 748-9779, 21+, $5, or $3 if you sign up on the e-mail list; check crunkfunk-creations.tripod.com and www.aristocratsclub.com for details.

YESIAM

Denver's Tom Hoch is one of those DJs who has dabbled in every musical genre and performed in places you've only read about. Founder of the Mile High House collective, he graciously comes down to our altitude to break you off some quality house. Siam on Lake Union, 1880 Fairview Ave E, 323-8101, 21+, 10 pm-3 am, $3-$5.

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 7

D·LEK, BOBBY KARATE, NORMAN

Influenced by My Bloody Valentine's densely enveloping production techniques as well as classical Indian music, D...lek take the more-is-more philosophy of Public Enemy (Bomb Squad) and New Kingdom (Scotty Hard) to unprecedented levels of disorienting complexity. Local laptop manipulator Bobby Karate molds his zeros and ones into ice picks that tap into your erogenous zones. (See also preview, page 39.) Graceland, 109 Eastlake Ave E, 381-3094, 8 pm-2 am.

FUSION

The open-minded philanthropists behind ToST's weekly world-electronica showcase, Planet Beat, embark on a new venture: Fusion, a syndicated radio show that's an extension of their live events. Dean Carlson plays a cornucopia of international artists "fusing current trends in music with their regional influences." Sundays, 11 pm-midnight, 103.7 The Mountain, www.planetbeat.net.

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 8

FOURTHCITY

Fourthcity casts its net wide tonight: Nemo, who recently moved here from Washington, D.C., deftly cuts up bebop passages and programs wicked beats. He's also pulled off some interesting remixes of local mope-popsters Carissa's Wierd. Seattle's Yoko Phono drops deep dub and unconventional drum 'n' bass that could've found a home on Asphodel during illbient's heyday. Michigan's Full deal in lush, emotive jazz with subtle electronic touches. Deep Down Lounge, 126 S Jackson St, 682-3242, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $2.

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 10
