FRIDAY JULY 30

GENE HUNT

This Chicago deep-house legend makes rare Seattle appearances over the weekend. Part of the seminal Trax Records roster, Hunt's been making coveted tracks and DJing around the world since 1986. These shows could be the most bangin' house education you'll ever get. With Brad Peterson and Danny Fortunato. SeeSound Lounge, 115 Blanchard St, 9 pm-2 am, free, 21+. Hunt also plays Sat July 31 at Bonzai Bar & Grill, $7.

SATURDAY JULY 31

SUNTZU SATURDAYS

Shortly after their Baltic Room stint went bust, the SunTzu Sound crew resurfaced at Capitol Hill hot spot Jai Thai. J-Justice spearheads this new weekly night of top-notch broken-beat jams (he and his fellow SunTzu jocks Atlee and AC Lewis recently tore it up opening for Jazzanova; some audience members thought they were Jazzanova). Jayson Powers chips in bonus conga beats, and other musicians will likely appear without warning. This joint serves cheap, strong drinks and serves Thai food till 2 am. Jai Thai, 235 Broadway Ave E, 10:30 pm-2 am, free.

SUNDAY AUGUST 1

TRANSGRESSIONS IN AUDIO

Looking for a night of "deconstructed sound?" Zapan, Ffej (Mutant Data Orchestra, SoniCabal), Nth, Syphilis Sauna, and Ecce Homo literally break it down for you in the swank settings of the Seattle Asian Art Museum. Nth cites artists as diverse as Squarepusher, Skinny Puppy, Scorn, and Eno as influences. Syphilis Sauna (Patrick Urn) promises ill emissions in the Coil/Nurse with Wound vein. Zapan's new self-titled CD is a giddy romp through myriad breakbeat styles, blending Ninja Tune-like whimsy with plenty of debauched funk. Seattle Asian Art Museum in Volunteer Park, 1 pm, $5, all ages.

TUESDAY AUGUST 3

NOT BREATHING, ENTROPIC ADVANCE

Not Breathing's IDM possesses the dark allure to lead lapsed goths and disenchanted Nine Inch Nails fans into brave new electronic worlds. Yet his rhythms are convoluted and funky enough to make Autechre and Meat Beat Manifesto aficionados stroke their beards in appreciation. Not Breathing's sinister intent, however, is to thrust you headlong into bad-acid-trip sonic effluvia. Every warped textural daub and malarial tone is tweaked to wreak havoc with your mind. Fenix Underground, 109 S Washington St, 405-4323, 9 pm-2 am, $5, 21+.
