SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 12

JAKE FAIRLEY

Lower Level's Basskamp night strikes gold with Toronto's Jake Fairley. The Canadian producer's new album, Touch Not the Cat (Paper Bag/Dumb-Unit), stomps down the runway like a 21st-century Gary Glitter (sans pedophiliac tendencies). Fairley's tracks aren't quite as gnarly and malodorous as T.Raumschmiere's, but they do pack a crunchy, warped-bass wallop that works as sonic Ex-Lax. I keep thinking this sort of muscular schaffel (shuffle) techno will catch on with trucker-hatted rockers, but so far, no, even though it's perfect for breaking speed limits behind the wheel and making you feel invincible. Maybe the cheeky, pipe-smoking Fairley will be the dude to break this music beyond the laptopperati. This is a Decibel Festival benefit show with Obelus and Zion 12. Lower Level (CHAC), 1621 12th Ave, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $5. TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 14

GOLDIE, MC ARMANNI, INK BAILY

If it's September, it must be time for another Metalheadz tour; apparently, Seattle can't get enough of Goldie's drum 'n' bass bangers and outsized charisma. Anyone responsible for erecting and creating the Metalheadz aesthetic deserves respect, and Goldie undoubtedly will cane his legendary UK label's corkscrewing, bleakly urban output with impunity while flashing that million-dollar smile like it's 1994. With Zacharia, Nitsuj, Demo. Baltic Room, 1207 E Pine St, 625-4444, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $10.

OSCILLATE

Oscillate has quickly become one of the city's premier showcases of forward-thinking electronic music. Resident Patrick Haenelt performs weekly as Electrosect; his tracks recall later-period Meat Beat Manifesto's sampladelic funkiness, in which textural grit and eerie atmospheres cohere around ass-wiggling beats. Fellow Oscillate resident DJ Greg Skidmore deftly blends high-IQ electro with melodic, angular IDM, and cool-headed minimal techno. He's got deep knowledge for a youngster. With DJ Veins, visuals by Foc:Eye. See Sound Lounge, 115 Blanchard St, 374-3733, 9 pm-2 am, 21+. free.
