FRIDAY OCTOBER 29

WAY OUT WEST

This Bristol, England, trio fuse burnished broken beat with grandiose trance synthonics, all frosted over with sincere Annie Lennox/Sarah McLachlan-esque emoting. On their new album, Don't Look Now (Distinct'ive), producer/keyboardists Nick Warren and Jody Wisternoff and diva Omi come on like a more vanilla Faithless (and you thought that was impossible). WOW are now peddling song-based electronica for suburban mall shoppers. It's a living. However, WOW are bringing a killer rhythm section--ex-Spiritualized/Massive Attack drummer Damon Reece and Roni Size bassist Joe Allen, so maybe the live experience will surpass the bland recordings. Qwest Field Event Center, 800 Occidental Ave S, 381-7582, 8 pm-4 am, 16+, $30-$75.

JOINT

Locals Jerry Abstract, Kris Moon, Nora Posch, and Tom Cellica throw down heady deep techno and electro. Find out where electronic music is going--and has gone--from some elite guides. CHAC (Lower Level), 1621 12th Ave, 388-0500, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $5.

DEEP THROAT

Now that they have your attention... Light in the Attic Records presents a night of "live pornographic funk" by the Peepers. Sharpshooters' Mr. Supreme spins funky porn classics, giving new meaning to the term seminal wax. All of which will help celebrate LITA's release of the Deep Throat I & II soundtracks, a kitsch timepiece from the early '70s that's surprisingly funky and melodically sophisticated. Chop Suey, 1325 E Madison St, 324-8000, 9 pm-2 am, 21+, $10 adv./$8 DOS with costume.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 30

SHAMELESS HALLOWEEN

Mr. Mumu joins resident DJs Recess, perfect cyn, and Derek Fisher. The late shift features Electrosect, Robb Green, Phoebe, and GreenStar. Visuals by FOC:EYE. No costume = no entry. 1809 Minor Ave (behind Re-bar), www.simplyshameless.com, 8 pm-5 am, 21+, free till 2, $2 after.
