Normal restaurant: You sit down, you look at a menu, you order what you want, you eat it. Pasta Freska: You sit down, chef Mike Horri comes over to your table and asks you about any food dislikes, you get a multicourse Italian dinner, you eat it (over maybe two hours). Some say it's good, others say eh.

oh so full!

What a fun place to eat! The food is terrific. Each course, all eight of them, had a small enough portion to leave room for the next (although I felt full after dish #3.) The halibut was better than I had previously encountered. For all the yummy food served, my least favorite was the penne pasta (which was still better than a lot of entrees elsewhere). Delicious strawberry lemonaid and an often-filled water glass made my thirsty body satisfied. I took to making reservations the day before, and it was a good thing I did. At 6 o'clock on Saturday, the small resturant was at capacity. Although the noise level reached uncomfortable levels, my date and I were able to carry on conversation easily. I spent a bit more than I expected ($80), but I felt satisfied that I got what I paid for. I will be returning to Pasta Freska in the future.

A special dining experience

I had heard about Chef Mike and Pasta Freska and I love Italian food (my mother is Sicilian). My sister and her husband were visiting from New York and I took them there. The three of us were, in a word, "wowed".

We must have had eight courses served. I had brought a very nice bottle of 1995 Italian wine which the waiter cheerfully uncorked and poured. Chef Mike came over to our table and seeing the bottle, got a glass and gave it a taste. "This is not ready yet," he said, "save it for the main course." He then proceeded to get a bottle of his own wine, poured four glasses, and joined us in tasting it. It was very good and we enjoyed it with the first few courses. (BTW, it never showed up on the check!)

All of the courses were brought in a timely manner, allowing us to enjoy conversation and eat without being rushed or waiting to long between. Each was very different and absolutely delicious. We shared the three desserts and enjoyed complimentary Vin Santo.

Would I recommend Pasta Freska? Of course! Have I gone back? Ditto!

My fav place!

I've been going for 9 years.. I love the place. Mike is awesome. I have my birhdays and had my college grad party there. The "rudeness" guy post is an idiot. Who would have the nerve to try to eat somewhere like that for $2. It's a special place to eat and he or she didn't deserve to be there.

Talk about RUDE?!

How rude is the asshole who shows up and eats a fantastic 5 course meal with wine and expects to pay $2.00!? You should restrict your "fine dining" to McDonalds! Not only should he have crumpled up your cheap ass coupon... he shoulda bitch slapped you upside the head too!

Never Rudeness!! Are you CRAZY!?

I cannot imagine Mike ever doing any of the things you are accusing him of! The first time I went there he not only bought us a bottle of wine and after dinner coffee drinks, he sat and visited with us for a while! He is generous, charming and never RUDE! The food is amazing the service is great and Mike is the icing on the cake!

Rudeness

The owner/chef was very rude to us just because we used a restaurant.com coupon. He accused us of "not spending enough money" there, even though we followed the terms of the coupon completely and there wasn't a minimum purchase requirement. He crumpled up the coupon right in front of us and told us we were insulting him with it. He didn't even want us to pay the $2 that our check was.

I've never received such rude treatment from any restaurant. I will never go back and never recommend this establishment. It seems that he is only kind to people, other than just at first, if they spend what he considers "enough money" there.

Pasta Freska for real

This is a genuine Italian restaurant in Seattle. It's true - Mike Horri provides a really unique experience - he welcomes you with a big hello and takes care of the entire meal. It's for real. Authentic. Great wine, a bite to the food with garlic and pepper. Great stuff. I wish more restaurants had this character and charm.

We went to Italy on a vacation a couple of years ago and we had never had good Italian food since. Then we found Pasta Fresca. Mike is quite chaming and he does a fantastic job of making you feel at home. The rest of the staff is there purly to please. The food absolutely fantastic. You go there you will not be sorry.

The only Italian I want in me...

Pasta Freska is simply the only Italian restaurant in Seattle worth going to, hands down!!! Gotta love Mike and he prepares every meal with the love that is abundant in his little corner of the world.

Our favorite place

We live 20 miles from Seattle. Everytime we have an event in Seattle, we stop by to see Mike. The food is the best. He doesn't have menus, so most of the time, we have not idea what we ate. It is always so fantastic, it doesn't matter. Many of my friends and my family have been dining on excellent meals prepared by Mike for nearly 20 years. The atmosphere is romantic, the way your dinner arrives is a fun adventure and you will recommend Pasta Fresca to your friends.

Like Non-other!!

Eating at Mike's Pasta Fresca was at the top of our dining experiences. We were visiting from Tennessee and met several family members there. Had the time of our life! Mike was personal, not at all rushed and we ended up feeling like he was part of our family. The food was absolutely the best you could imagine, and you had to imagine what it was considering if you ask Mike what you had in front of you, his answer is, "It's a surprise!" Be sure to go hungry because you will need a lot of room to do justice to all the many courses he brings out. I highly recommend this dining experience to anyone who wants a very special evening.
