Where are they now?

Just thought I would stop by to fill in the general public on where Pizza Fusion Seattle's "sustianable" business model is today. Though Pizza Fusion insists integrity is of utmost importance, the behavior of the Seattle franchise would indictate otherwise. On March 23rd Pizza Fusion Seattle closed it's doors with no prior warning to their employees. In a single e-mail, Kevin York informed employees that they would not be recieving their final paychecks. He has not been available for contact since. Many former employees are now left struggling to pay rent (the majority of employees were paid minimum wage) and find new work. So lets thank Mr.York for all he has brought to our community.

gluten-friendly but not cheap

If you need to find your gluten-free pizza, I recommend Julianos over this chain. This place has very small pies and they are pricey. We recently bought three pies to accomodate our frienda' vast range of dietary restrictions (gluten-free, vegan, lactose intolerance) and they were able to accomodate but they were over $20/each and were SMALL! and by small...I mean..tiny..

rotten

good LORD does this place suck. and the constant ramming-down-the-throat of "we're green and organic, etc etc" just makes it feel like a whole foods, although somehow inexplicably more corporate. it is a chain, and pizza places, almost as a rule, are only good if they are local. piecoras rules. hot mamas rules. flying squirrel rules. veraci rules. why? because by not having the restrictions of being a corporate chain, they are allowed to have the "no two pizzas are exactly the same" factor, while still having constants: good sauce, sauce/cheese/dough ratio, thinness/thickness factor....and also having a comfy and warm feel inside the place. have you been inside pizza fusion? its like a food court.

Options!

I freaking LOVE the fact that you can choose your crust (multi-grain or any sort of dough with nutritional value) is all too missing from the world of pizza ordering. Although I do love the comfort food status of other joints in town, it's wonderful to have options (and not feel like you're committing a major dietary sin).

Pizza Fusion

Fantastic! Large house salad more than enough for two to share. The Founders Pizza was pretty darn good, with plenty of gorganzola, generous portions of kalamata olives and grilled chicken with a solid spicy tomato sauce. This place doesn't fill seattle pizza gap, but is a vast improvement on the other close pizza joint, Piecoras, which laughably calls itself NY style pizza, but provides bland ingredients and airy crust.
