A Lady's Night/Pioneer Square/Sat Sept 30/12:45 am. Officer Bruneau reports: "Ofc. Terry and I were exiting the J&M Cafe after clearing a nonrelated call. At the same time, suspect [a black female wearing black T-shirt, short black shorts, and silver high heels] was attempting to enter the J&M Cafe with a forged California driver's license that has suspect's photograph under the name 'Melissa Jackson.' One of the bouncers from the J&M signaled to Ofc. Terry to take a look at the suspect's ID. Ofc. Terry utilized his pen-size black light to see if the ID was fake. Ofc. Terry and I believed that suspect was using a fake ID, so we brought her to our patrol car to run her name.

"At the time, the suspect was adamant that her name was 'Melissa Jackson' and that it was her 24th birthday (DOB 9/29/82). Suspect was unable to tell me the street address listed on her California ID and stated that her middle name was 'Nicole' but no such name was listed on the California ID. Suspect continually stated, 'Wow!' throughout my questioning.

"Suspect would begin each of her answers with 'Wow!' to express her disbelief that she was contacted by law enforcement. I ran a computer check of 'Melissa Jackson' and no such name and DOB existed within California and Washington States. I told suspect that she needed to be honest about her name and date of birth. Suspect replied, 'Wow!' and stated that her name was really Jackson. I placed suspect under arrest and advised her of her Miranda rights from my SPD-issued MIR book at about 0054 hours. Suspect continued to state, 'Wow!'

"I transported suspect to the ID Unit in the Seattle Police headquarters to fingerprint and identify her. Suspect stated, 'I've had that fake ID for... a year now.' Suspect said that she got a passport photo down in California and was on some strip where she bought the fake ID so that she could go to Las Vegas and drink with her friends. Suspect not only admitted to having the fake California ID for over one year, but also that she used it frequently throughout the past year to get into and drink in Seattle clubs. 'Yes, it was wrong, but I don't use it for bad stuff like credit cards or banks or none of that.' Suspect also stated, 'I carry myself better than half of them bitches in the clubs.'

"The ID technician came back with the result and Ofc. Terry asked suspect one last time, 'What is your real last name?' Suspect replied 'Jackson.' Ofc. Terry and I told suspect that we had proof she was lying again. Suspect's actual DOB is XX/XX/86, and just turned 20 years of age. I ran her name through SPD dispatch and they verified that she had a $5,000 felony warrant for forgery. Suspect stated, 'Wow!'"
