Quote of the Week

"I don't know anybody on the city council who's defended human rights more than Margaret Pageler." This AMAZING utterance was made by City Council Member Jim Compton, who was trying to help out his cornered colleague. A crowd of minority protesters who jammed Mayor Paul Schell's conference room last week were getting ornery in the wake of the latest police controversy--the David Walker shooting. And they were taking it out on Council President Pageler.

Helping a friend is one thing, but Compton apparently seems to have forgotten Pageler's atrocious record of supporting City Attorney Mark Sidran's so-called civility ordinances--laws which primarily target the poor and minorities.
