Green star Roanoke Park Place Tavern (Capitol Hill)

2409 10th Ave E
Seattle, WA 98102

The Roanoke is also known as the Chia Pet, in honor of its exterior coat of ivy. From the inside looking out, each window has an extra frame of encroaching twigs and leaves; the place is dim and friendly and worn, like a tree house with drinks and pinball. The food—sandwiches, burgers, nachos—is surprisingly good. We heart the Roanoke.

Good beer selection, really comfortable place.

The outdoor area in the back was great on a sunny day. Didn't have any food, but what I saw looked tasty. It was extremely busy when I was there, and the bartenders were curt but also quick, I didn't have to wait long to get served. I would say that the space and decor were what I enjoyed most. Seems like it could be a great place for watching sporting events.

I really really like this place

I go about 5 - 8 times per year and every time is fun in its own way. Ivy covered and totally unique. Wednesdays are the best. $1 tacos (which are totally yummy) and $1 PBR (the tacos make it drinkable). Great in the winter to watch a game or hang out with friends (horray cozy stove). In the summer I go more because they have two (badly maintained, but who cares) OUTDOOR ping pong tables. It's like a ping pong oasis with beer. I love it and when friends come into town they always insist on going there at least once. Right on the #49 bus. I consider it a barely known gem. BTW- they're right...the service sucks.

Used to be good.

It was nice ten years ago. The current owner lets his employees treat the customers in whatever way they feel. In other words, HORRIBLE SERVICE. I can't believe they haven't closed. 1 star because there isn't a lesser option.

great place

has an outdoor ping pong table and it DOES have hard liquor, i got a mixed drink there, so i don't know why the stranger lists it as wine and beer only. great place, low key and fun.
