Rock Psych 101

You don't have to have a Ph.D. in psychology to know that there are crazy people involved in the music industry. From Michael Jackson's recent loony protests and Mariah Carey's public breakdown, to less camera-friendly, more serious cases of mental illness, musicians have more than their fair share of unstable personalities. Our quarterly music issue this time around focuses on psychology and rock, from the special issues musicians need to take into account when seeking treatment, to a clinic in Austin set up after one artist's tragic suicide, to a breakdown on good old narcissism. Plus we have a profile of a man notorious for his Nirvana conspiracies, and a rundown of the best records by artists on the manic edge. JENNIFER MAERZ
