Rated R
What sounds like yet another obvious Clerks retread (ensemble comedy in an all-night supermarket!) turns out to be a sly, strange, and weirdly satisfying little comedy. First-time writer-director Sean Ellis focuses just as much on the nature of heartbreak as he does on the amusingly silly set pieces, and he's backed by a strong team of young Brit actors. Ellis delivers some nifty visual tricks and strikes a fine balance between broad humor and surprisingly sincere emotion. Plus, I can't lie: There's some really fantastic nudity (female).
