Green star Shorty's (Belltown)

2222 3/4 Second Ave
Seattle, WA 98121
(206) 441-5449
Website

Hot dogs, booze, and pinball in one place spells fun for everyone (well, everyone 21 and older). Shorty's serves an array of bargain-priced wieners with a vast assortment of accompanying condiments—the Chicago dog, with all its salady stuff piled on top, is kind of close to healthy. Nostalgic soda pops and vegetarian options are offered for those who choose to abstain but still remember how to have a good time. For relatively high rollers, the Trophy Room back bar carries top-shelf liquors. Shorty's RULZ.

Great bar, bad attitude

Maybe they don't like 'out of towners'? Or in our case English people, perhaps it should say 'regulars only at the door'?
We get it... You don't need to be friendly, people will still come in because of the pinball machines. (Which are brilliant! And almost made us forget about the horrible bar man)
Just so sad, we were looking forward to visiting this bar, and would have stayed all night but the general bad atmosphere sent us elsewhere.
It's nice to be nice :-/

Rude rude rude

Dear owner,
I am sad to say my experience at your bar was less than stellar. In fact, my
friends and I were treated quite rudely. I'm not sure if this is normal for
the Seattle area since I'm not a local. (If this is normal for your city, might I suggest you be better than the rest and treat your customers with respect.)
However, my friend has lived here for 2 years and it was her going away party night.
As you can see by my email
at 2:30am(it is now 3:30am - which is 5:30am Minneapolis time, but I feel it is important for this bar to understand I am serious about the words I am writing.) , I am not completely inebriated, however I am disappointed in the
treatment we received at your bar.

Considering I have been through TIPS training as well as work in the service industry, I understand the difficult job your servers and bartenders have, I still believe we were treated unfairly. Your doorman carded us at the bar with snide looks. One friend did stumble slightly, however I believe he was not as inebriated as assumed. He was carrying a wrapped bottle which was a going away present for our friend which w=
as greeted with rude remarks.  After passing our carding inspection we moved to the back of your bar- which was the main purpose of our visit. My friend wished to show us your back room which was not locked. We proceeded to take
a few pictures. We were then greeted by another rude attendant whom I asked=
if that section/bar was closed. He responded that the reason the gate was closedDear owner, I am sad to say my experience at your bar was less than stellar. In fact, my=

So far our experience was not stellar, but not unforgivable....
Then we quickly moved to the main bar where my friend queried about a drink.=
We were told they had stopped serving. It was 1:45am. I have had the experi=
ence that if bars are open until 2am, they will serve until 2am. I was not t=
rying to challenge or be rude, however I told the bartender I was not from t=
he area and I was used to a different set of rules. I was told that he didn'=
t care where I was from and was told to leave. ( This was rather rude since I=
was merely explaining the situation.) I felt as though they were extremely r=
ude and told them I would never be treated this way in Minneapolis. I was pr=

If this is the way your locals and tourists are expected to be treated, then=
they should all come to Minneapolis! No one is ever treated this way- custo=
mers bring a bar money and if this is the was because it was closed. I said that I had not realized that since it was not locked.

The customer is not always right, however, a staff of rude people will only ruin a business.
I'm not sure if you can right this wrong, but an apology and kind service to your future patrons would be a nice place to start.

Thank you &
Good luck in your business.
Sincerely,
Me

Love the back room full of pinball machines -- including my favorite, Medieval Madness.

Disgusting Food in an Entertaining Bar

The food here looks like something you wouldn't let your dog eat off the ground. The nacho cheese is inedible, the hot dogs are revolting and I can't even bring myself to try anything else. That being said it's one of my favorite trashy bars and I wouldn't let my scathing review of their food dissuade you from buying a pint.

Shorty's Sucks...

and that's why I love it! I have heard the most inane conversations intersect with some of the most insightful while sitting on the patio at Shorty's. I am never want for entertainment here. I like PBR and I like sausages. I like Galaga and I like trying to do the Harem Sneak. I like the fact that it smells like a locker-room when it is packed. Do yourself a favor and order a #3. Goathorn pepper and cream cheese on a sausage...what more could you ask for?

hotdogs, pinball, and alcohol!

Always a crowd pleaser! We needed a bar that has food for both veggie and non-veggie eaters. I'm also impressed that they have pinball but I hope one day that add skiball!
