  • The Showbox is a great place to see a show, even when it's sold out. There's hardly a bad sight line in the house, from the outer reaches to the foot of the stage; it's got two bars; and the room has the classic charm of an old theater.
  • Features: Live Music and Cover Charge
  • Scene: Nightclub and Concert Venue

Great venue . . . bad bar

Seriously they sell twelve ounce plastic cups of beer for $4.50 and while its better than a Mariners game this is way more overpriced than any other music venue out there. There is never any specials when shows are actually happening, and if you wanted to find a seat to eat from thier - halfway decent - menu, you wouldn't be able to find one. In the old days I used to limit myself drinks numbers so I wouldn't blow a wad of cash, at the Showbox I don't even get a drink becauese it just doesn't seem worth it.

Had to review to bring up the rating...

I don't expect beer to be cheap at concerts unless it's at my friends house. I don't expect cocktails to be cheap, either. It's because I live in a city in the year 2009. But, I've bought less cocktails for more money at Showbox concertsand got just as drunk as if I purchased many more elsewhere. The Showbox bartenders poor with a heavy hand. Oh, and if you are not an asshat, they will remember you and have your drink waiting as you approach the bar. Besides the "I'm going to rate a music venue for it's drink service" weirdness, I'll say that this is hands down the best place to see a show you actually want to see and hear that show. I repeat, you can SEE the show and HEAR it. This cannot be said about many venues in Seattle and elsewhere (some of which I still enjoy because they have other values). If I could choose one venue to see any musical act I actually wanted to shell out more than $20 to see, I'd always choose the Showbox at the Market (but not Showbox Sodo, which does have some sound/viewing issues).
