This laid-back documentary follows Giacomo Farina, an amazing tambourinist, as he reaches out to a mouth harpist, a pianist, an accordionist, and a bagpipe player from different countries. The five men meet to blend their Sicilian, Arabic, Aboriginal, and jazz music, even though they speak different languages. “But maybe since we are all from an island surrounded by the sea, we speak the same language,” Farina says in the film. The director incorporates video of fire, volcanoes, wind, water, and wheat–a combination of other universal sounds that also cross language barriers. A soothing and uplifting film.
