Slim's has a great country-time roadhouse vibe; in summertime, bands play on the bed of an old Ford F-600 in the big backyard while happy people lounge ruddily at picnic tables, sweating over bowls of liquid meat then cooling down with pitchers of beer. The chilis range from traditional (Texas Red: "traditional all meat chili made with certified angus beef") to slightly woo-woo (Turkey & White Bean: "ground turkey, white beans, and serrano chilies simmered in a hearty broth"). They're all good, and served either straight-up or, ingeniously, ladled over your choice of white cheddar grits or jalapeño mac 'n' cheese.

Slim's Ass Prance

Paid 14$ for one a bowl of chili.....
The one bathroom in the joint didn't have anywhere to properly wash your hands. The cook came in and out of this bathroom. I left feeling ill, and broke....wouldn't visit again....

Accept the fact that it costs money to have fun, eat good food and get drunk! The food earns the right to not be cheap because its not out of a fuckin' can. Its legitimate good eatin' and the beer was cold. What more do you pussies need?

Might as well go uptown where its easier to get a taxi

Not cheap. over $10 for a bowl of chili with fixins. The dinner and two beers was way more than I thought I'd spend for zero table service. Chili was good, just don't ask to add anything on it, but not THAT good. :(

A Little Slice of Heaven

All good, no bad. Great place to see live music, great food, one pool table, real people, real beer plus real drinks, great decor (without feeling like 'decor') and to top it off, the owners are the nicest people you'll ever meet. Plenty of street parking, friendly and knowledgeable bartenders - I could go on and on, but you get the picture!
