Green star Talarico's Pizzeria & Lounge (West Seattle)

4718 California Ave SW
Seattle, WA 98116
(206) 937-3463
Website

Talarico's features two different kinds of booths. On the north wall, you'll find a row of low-slung black pleather three-sided beauties that stretch their arms open in a generous hug. In these booths, diners behave the way they do in hot tubs; in large groups, they spread out, limbs stretched every which way. When it's two people in that expansive space, they tend to cuddle together. The south wall has tall wooden booths with facing seats, creating enclosed spaces perfect for sharing secrets. No matter which kind of booth you choose, you'll get Talarico's signature bigger-than-your-head slices brought to your table. The slices will take up all the empty space in your booth and fill your heart—and your stomach—with a gluttonous Italian kind of joy.

love it

I've been going to Talaricos since it opened and i still love it. The bartenders are great. I most admit i never sit at the tables so i can't say much for that. The new manager can be rude, but he tends bar sometimes and he's growing on me. The pizza has never let me down and i really enjoy the new weekly dishes. Way to mix it up.

what happened to this place?

...this used to be one of the best places to hang out in WS but the last six months have been nothing but one painful experience after another...every time I go in there there is a sea of new faces working there and the service just gets worse and worse...my guess it was either an owner or a management change...but whatever it was it's not working at all...and what's this I hear about kids? They can kiss my entertainment dollars goodbye...

Agreed

Agree with the who's the new dude comment. We go in very regularly mainly on the weekends. The host knows us and is very accomedating and friendly, a couple weekends ago though we were greeted by some jerk who pretty much threw the menus at the table and ran off. I was shocked to later find out that he was the new MANAGER!! What is going on in that place. I want the old 'Rico's back too, the new changes are not for the better. Where is the old manager she was great. COME BACK RICOS!

Boring food, bad service

Our server spent most of the afternoon pacing around looking at us like he wanted to either leave and never come back or start a fight just because. The pasta was soft, the sauce was boring, and the chicken was pretty average. The beer is nothing special and somewhat overpriced. Just a shitty place to spend your money.

Who's the new guy?

Word on the street is there's a new head hauncho in town.. and he's no bueno. He was rude to us from the get-go.. get rid of the new guy! Our server seemed less-than-thrilled about having him there, too. How sad, we want the old Rico's back!

Correction

You can order take out from Talorico's. Just give them a call and they will have your order ready for you w/in 15 or 20 min. Not as convenient as delivery but if you live close by its worth it!!

Best spot on the westside

Wassup with all the haters here? rico's is an excellent spot for chillin on a slow wednesday night with a pint and a slice or kickin it up on a sat night with some friends. Good eye candy on the weekends as well :) sit at the bar and give some love to either Rita, Derrick, or Jordan. They're gauranteed to take care of you. This is one of my favorite haunts in seattle... and god knows I go out far too much.

Scammers

We are regular Talarico's customers who will probably never return. We love Talarico's for their mediocre (but LARGE) pizza slices and fun atmosphere. Although the service is never great, tonight it was terrible. We showed up with a group of 10 and they were not able to accommodate a group of our size. This was totally acceptable, especially considering that we hadn't called ahead. we were seated at two tables and were treated as two separate parties. We were quite surprised at the end of the night when the two separate table were brought two separate bills that had a 19% automatic gratuity for large groups added. This seemed rather unbelievable since we were treated as two independent groups throughout our meal. As an added insult, our waitress forced a "special birthday drink" on the birthday girl, giving the impression that it would be gratis. We were quite surprised to see it snuck onto our bill at the end. Until tonight, we had always had a fairly positive experience at Talarico's. Hopefully our server was just a bad egg in an otherwise great establishment.

You call this New York?

Despite Chris McCann's well written review, Talarico's compares to New York pizza in one sense only: size. If you've been to Greenwich Village or Brooklyn, it can take months before you can enjoy pizza in Seattle again. Talarico's is expensive, takes forever to get and is basically dull. By the time you get it, you're so hungry it doesn't matter! The sauce is probably canned, right of the Sysco truck. I wouldn't be surprised if the dough is frozen. It's baffling, because they have an enormous kitchen crew and state-of-the-art ovens. It's an approximation, granted. But Talarico's kitchen simply has to try harder. I'll take Stellar Pizza in G-Town anyday over Talarico's, even they're not East Coast. p.s. The service has usually been pretty good, except at the bar. Excellent TV's for sports.

Who do you have to blow...

...to get a drink in this place? It typically takes ten full minutes for one of the bartenders to even acknowledge you, even when it's a slow night and they're just standing around talking to each other.

Drunk. Pizza.

This is one of my favorites when I'm drunk down at the Junction and get hungry. Their pizza is awesome, their drinks aren't TOO over priced, and there's usually a fair amount of people there too.

great slices, good service

No crying kids, either. West seattle has plenty of family places, this one is for grown-ups only. And preserving one booth from the New Luck Toy was a nice nod to the history of the place.

Sing a song of pizza

Great asparagus appetizer! Mammoth pieces of pizza. It's about two to three average slices depending on what size pizza you are comparing it to. Tons of toppings. Large area for eating, dining, amusing the crowd with your singing skills or lack thereof.
