Restaurant Details

  • Your usual selection of curries, vindaloos, and tandooris—but everything is just that much better than at your average lunch buffet. There's "butter chicken," which is chicken simmered in butter until it's so tender it hurts, and then served in a creamy tomato bath that's sweet and mellow like a pasta sauce; there's naan, which is so good it's hard not to stuff yourself silly.

It's more than a Taste, it's a delight

I've been visiting this wonderful restaurant for 10 years and brought many of my friends there, including Indian nationals, and all agree - it's the best Indian food in Seattle. My favorites are the bottomless chai tea, the spinach naan, and the tikka masala. Yum!

just a warning from a former taste of india employee... the owners keep the tips. if you ask them they'll say that they split it up between the servers but this is a lie. also if someone is caught accepting a tip from someone in the know, they are accused of stealing by the owners. eat the food, keep the tip.

Very Good

I've eaten at a lot of Indian places, and this one is definitely up there on the list. Also, I completely agree that the butter curry is amazing; be sure to try it. My only caution is that this restaurant is in the cheap eats category, and this is a miscategorization. If you're going to go, expect to pay a bit on your tab. Indian food is meant to be eaten family style, which means you need to order a bunch of dishes, and entrees are $12-18, with another $4 tacked on for each naan.

Butter chicken & Chai

This is my favorite Indian food in Seattle. The first dish I try at a new Indian resterant is the butter chicken and this one has by a long shot the best. The chai is also the best I have had, but I like it sweet. The only downside is that there is no buffet at lunch, and when it gets busy they tend to hurry you.

They've got it all.

Great Service, Atmosphere, and Food. I have tried many Indian restaurants around Seattle and this place is by far the best.

Agreed - best Indian in Seattle

Always reliable. Spinach nan and lamb vindlaloo should not be missed. And the beautiful rugs on the wall make for a wonderfully pleasing ambiance.

Oh please

This is one of the worst Indian places I have ever visited. Coming from India dosent make me an expert but god! the curries made are half cooked. You can actually taste the tomatoes in the curry which is something no respectable Indian chef would like to see. Indian curry needs to be have its spices sauted to avoid having a raw taste to the meal, which is just what the dishes here have. Try other places around University Ave that have much better fare.

Chaiiii......

Honestly, I've eaten quite a bit of Indian food in many places and this is hands down my fav in Seattle. They have THE best chai anywhere and the usual short wait is worth it for a wonderful and reasonably priced meal. It does get very hot inside during the summer, but it's worth every bead of sweat!

Best Indian in Seattle

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in Seattle. Undending cups of chai, great service from all staff, nice atmosphere, many dishes to choose from and one of my most favorite items is the pesto nan - delicious!

Gotta Love It!

This is one of the best Indian places I've been too. The food is spectacular, it has a good selection of veggie dishes and the Chai is excellent. This is also a good place to take folks who aren't that keen on Indian food. I took my sister, one of the pickest eaters, and she found a salad that enjoyed. It can get really busy, so if you're going on a whim with no reservation be prepared to wait awhile. But remember this, it is so worth the wait!

My Fave Indian place

I LOVE this place. It is so adorable, and I've been going there religiously for over 4 years now, and we recommended it to so many people and they've done the same...I've probably recruited a following of 100 . I love it that much. Unlimited cups of the best Chai tea, amazing service, great tasting food and great location. You can't ask for more than that.
