Green star The Brooklyn Seafood, Steak & Oyster House (Downtown)

1212 Second Ave
Seattle, Seattle 98101
(206) 224-7000

The Brooklyn offers seafood and steak served amid old-school-style elegance—it's bustling in the oyster-bar front, cushioned (albeit with dated upholstery) in the dining-room rear. The specialty here is oysters, but everything from the sea—salmon, scallops, crab cakes, etc.—is in the house, along with old-school-style steak Oscar and au poivre. The weekday happy hour is a reliable (and crowded) delight, with microbrews, cocktails, appetizers, and oysters on the half-shell on special.

But super super delicious!!! If you want to check this place out on the cheaper side, just order the clam chowder ($7) and their calimari ($12) Most plates are between $35-$65. Request a seat at the chefs counter, service is impeccable.

Great place for a night on the town.

The service is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food is delicious with good portions and lots of flavor. The drinks are especially tasty and I would definitely go back. The atmosphere is very interesting - it is classy, but not stuffy. Excellent experience.

Best meal I've had in years

I was very impressed with the food and the service. Great steak, my wife had salmon and a tasty bottle of wine. Our server was in tune with the schedule at Benaroya Hall and asked if we were headed to the performance. We were not so they slowed our meal down and drew out the evening. This was the best dining out experience I've had in Seattle in years. I highly recommend it.

The *NEW* bar menu

The bar has a nice 4.99 per entree menu for their happy hour. The upside? The kobe mini burgers are good and its presented on the plate well. The satay (1 pork, 1 beef, and 1 chicken skewer) is tasty before the sauce ( a little spicy peanut-butter sauce). The downside? The satay pork skewer was overly fatty and there were only 2 mini burgers. I ended up going to a different place to eat the main portion of my dinner.

dependably good meals

This is a great place to take visiting family members to, especially if they're the types that don't eat out much. It's a nice restaurant, and they'll feel like you took them to a fancy place (you did). Almost all of the dishes have enough flare to satisfy foodies--very good quality fresh fish--and yet they're not intimidating to the less adventurous. Plus, there are always good seafood and non-seafood choices so everyone can be satisfied.

Best Clam Chowder in Seattle

The bar at the Brooklyn is a great place for slurping fresh oysters while sipping a dirty martini, but I go for the Clam Chowder. It is unlike any other cream-based chowder I have had anywhere else. I can easily detect the thyme and hint of basil, but what ingredient gives it its orange tint? Is it tomato? Is it paprika? They won't tell me, but whatever it is it rocks!
