Once the two-man band/four-track recording project of Ruben Mendez and Lacey Swain, the Charming Snakes evolved into the four-piece they are today after two years of reconfiguring their lineup. All four members are Seattle residents transplanted from Austin. Infer what you will about the combination of raucous, party-loving Texans and moody, gray Seattle days--the North/South crossover translates easily to the band's poppy yet irregular sounds.
