The International District's Bush Garden seems almost impossibly vast, bringing together a small collection of independent states. Off the bar is a mirror-paneled and popular karaoke lounge; in the adjacent dining area, pagoda eaves cast shadows upon the sushi counter. Green mats neatly line the floor of the tatami room, and above the entrance hangs a gigantic, cloudlike mass of tangled tree roots. Brightening every inch of the place: the two-for-the-price-of-one happy-hour menu, featuring such Japanese delights as gyoza pot stickers ($4.95), ebi-bacon shrimp kebabs ($4.75), tempura with deep-fried prawns and vegetables ($5.95), and hot dragon spicy calamari ($5.75).
