As Greg Nickels knows all too well, a mayor's life consists of relentlessly bleak days, windowless conference rooms, and suffocating debate sessions. At the downtown McCormick's Fish House & Bar, Nickels apparently found the solace he so desperately craves. In the rich green drapes, the linear clusters of booths, the framed celebrity photos on the walls, perhaps he felt a thrilling happiness, both intense and peaceful. Whatever the case, Nickels has officially declared January 2007 to be McCormick's Fish House & Bar Month. The joyfully cheap happy-hour food menu (everything $1.95) includes a variety of mayor-tempting treats: a half-pound cheeseburger, quesadillas, and a trifecta of salmon delights—burgers, cakes, and dip.
