THURSDAY 9/23

MMMBOP!

Hanson are playing the Moore. Yes, THAT Hanson, damn you. That's all I'm saying. (Fag.) Some other people are playing, too, but whatever. (MMMBop!) Moore Theatre, 7 pm, $23–$33, all ages.

FRIDAY 9/24

THE SYLVIA and TOR CABARET SHOW

All un-aboard! Until now, the growing mystique of Sylvia and Tor has been confined to a peculiar venue, tucked away in some asinine corner of nowhere they call "Sodo"—in that famous old train-cum-Chinese-restaurant-slash-ironic-bar place that you always notice just before you hit Costco. (Only in Obama's America.) This place is called, appropriately, Orient Express, and it's completely beside the point at this juncture, because Sylvia and Tor, those most showstoppy of lounge-acting raconteurs, are gingerly uprooting their popular act from the tea-steamed walls and chow mein choo-choo breath of that weird old caboose and are transplanting it to the fertile soils of Re-bar, where they'll sprinkle its roots with dancers and bask its leaves in burlesque's naughty rays and dazzle us all, their ever-growing fans, with their first-ever, hugely big Sylvia and Tor Cabaret Show! Two nights only! Re-bar, 7 pm, $15, 21+.

SATURDAY 9/25

CHERRY

Trannyqueerpunks! Lesbosexuals! I can't say too much! We already have a Re-bar thing this week, you see. (Barhopping Jesus! We're there every week!) But it's my duty to tell you that Cherry is happening—and it's happening! (Plus, the Sylvia and Tor Cabaret Show is just before, so you could possibly see that, then stay for this maybe, too! A nifty idea! Win-win!) Re-bar, 10 pm, $5–$7, 21+.

SUNDAY 9/26

A CURIOUS TEA DANCE

Once more, we plunge into the glittering wonderland of esoteric treasures that is, um, Sodo, for something new and weird: an allegedly proper gay "tea dance," in a clearly-trying-hard-to-get-"The-Gays"-through-the-door new place called (butchly enough) Sur. SUR! (DADDY!) The place seems glittery and glam and has things like an executive chef, a fancy Flash site, and an artistic director. (Whatever.) And this gay thing, which has "male and female go-go dancers" and a dude with Lady Gaga glasses on the invite (hold me!), has piqued my interest. Do they deserve our gaytronage? Our deviant devotion? Our LOVE? I'm curious! Sur, 2901 First Ave S, 4–9 pm, $5, 21+.
