FRONT OF BOOK Letters: The Stranger's readers often offer more intelligent insight than its writers. Is this why the paper is so frightened to run a full page of letters?... Last Days: Didn't read... NEWS News Lead: A rather fluffy affair. Were there no other news items available this week?... News Follow(s): More monorail boredom; Didn't read; Didn't read; Still more monorail boredom... Five to Four: Skimmed... DC 11: The Stranger's new "Washington D.C. bureau" reeks of a sham... FEATURE: Dan Savage not only chastises a young adult for doing the right thing, but also promotes widespread marijuana use. Should the Stranger offices be investigated?... FILM Film Lead: Sean Nelson and Bradley Steinbacher evidently do not know the definition of "point/counterpoint" (or "quality criticism," for that matter)... Film Follow(s): Didn't read; Kathleen Wilson is quickly turning out to be The Stranger's most coherent film critic; Didn't read (one Sean Nelson review is enough for this week)... BOOKS Books Lead: Skimmed... ART Didn't read... THEATER None... CHOW Unavailable at deadline... MUSIC (Note: Due to lack of space, I shall withhold my criticisms of the music section--and there are many!--this week)... ETC. The Band: Very sad. It is shameful that some of The Stranger's most heartfelt, affecting journalism comes not from its writers, but from outside sources... One-Night Stand: Didn't read... Celeb I Saw U: Too gay... I Love TV: Didn't read... Savage Love: Mr. Savage manages to promote both drug use and homosexuality in the same issue. Can the killing of puppies be far behind?... Control Tower: Didn't read... Obits: Didn't read.
