October 2, 2003 - VOL. 13, NO. 03

FRONT OF BOOK Letters: Didn't read.... Last Days: The lone morality to be found in an otherwise corrupt enterprise.... NEWS Yet another uselessly large section, this week featuring rants from both Dan Savage and Sandeep Kaushik on the faults of another Seattle paper. Perhaps if Savage and Kaushik spent more time attempting to remedy the faults of their own paper, The Stranger wouldn't be such a weekly failure.... FEATURE Skimmed.... THEATER Useful and well written.... BOOKS Unable to muster interest.... ART Also unable to muster interest.... FOOD Didn't read.... MUSIC Dense and informative, but saddled with far too many columns.... FILM A smart review by Jennifer Maerz, followed by a travesty of criticism by Bradley Steinbacher.... ETC. In Arts News: More coverage of the paper's looming "Genius Awards." I'm sure I speak for all of Seattle when I say that I can't wait for the awards to have passed, if for no other reason than my never having to hear about them again.... Nightstand: A decent eulogy of sorts for the great George Plimpton.... Live Wire: Skimmed.... Drunk by Noon: Mr. Lippens: Here is a complicated, obscure word you forgot to use in your column this week: "similitude".... The Truth: Didn't read.... All Ages Action: Megan Seling is the new Min Liao of The Stranger (i.e., she can never muster a disdainful word).... Data Breaker: Didn't read.... The Score: Also didn't read.... Some Candy Talking: Skimmed.... Savage Love: Savage argues with women about porn. Seattle (and the country as a whole) collectively yawns.... I Love TV: Unfortunately, I must admit it: I laughed out loud at this week's column. May God have mercy on my soul.... Control Tower: Didn't read.... Celebrity I Saw U: Too gay....
