October 23, 2003 - VOL. 13, NO. 06

FRONT OF BOOK Letters: Amazingly, a letters section this week with neither a letter concerning one of Eli Sanders' AIDS articles nor a petty retort by Dan Savage attacking the writer of said letter.... Last Days: As always, a joy to read.... NEWS The Stranger Election Bowling League endorsements. A tip for any intelligent Stranger readers out there: Peruse The Stranger's picks, then vote the opposite.... SHORT FEATURE An Eli Sanders article on... AIDS! By this point the horse The Stranger is kicking is not just dead, it's already decomposed.... FEATURE A smart, solid article on the decay of a Seattle neighborhood by Amy Jenniges. Kudos, Amy.... THEATER A handful of decent reviews.... BOOKS A long, intelligent review by Kate Preusser, a Stranger contributor to take note of.... ART A great piece by Emily Hall.... FOOD An entertaining, even humorous review by Sara Dickerman.... MUSIC Yet another music feature, this time on a rock photographer. Didn't Seattle already have a "music" paper at one time? And didn't that "music" paper fold?... FILM A lengthy negative review, filled with little more than bluster, by Bradley Steinbacher.... ETC. Due to lack of space, I'm unable to comment on the many--too many!--columns The Stranger has, save, of course, for Celebrity I Saw U, which, as always, is too gay....
