BUSH REELECTION ALERT
This week: Bush got crappy news on the economy (June's tepid job growth tripped up the economic comeback); Michael Moore's hit movie Fahrenheit 9/11 (grossing record-breaking millions) is making a mockery of Bush's war; and Bush's numbers have stalled in the dangerous below-50-percent territory. And now the real bad news: John Kerry didn't tap utter bore Dick Gephardt. Instead, he wisely picked Clintonian wonderboy John Edwards. Bush's reelection chances have sunk one notch on The Stranger Department of Homeland Security's scale, to "Guarded." --JF
