Best cuppa Joe in Seattle

There are many great places in Seattle to have a cup of coffee. Trabant beats all of them. They had a Clover coffee machine before Starbucks bought Clover out, and using this machine in combination with beans from Vancouver's 49th Parallel makes for the best drip coffee experience you can have in this city. Trabant's espresso is good too, though it doesn't match Vivace or Lighthouse in Fremont. No matter. Walk up to the counter and ask for a varietal made with the Clover.

This place rocks!

The U-District location is far superior than their newer pioneer square location. It's warmer feeling, lots more space and doesn't feel like a warehouse. In particular, it's great to see all the great art on the walls from *local* artists. I went in saturday night and ran into some sort of opening reception for a local photographer. I was able to grab a great cappuccino, read The Stranger and walk around and look at some amazing photos. do yourself a favor and check this place out.

Chai Chai Chai

This is not authentic chai. On the other hand: who cares? Whatever it is (it's still chai by the logic of tea milk spice), it's sugary goodness. My reliable standby is the Mt. St. Helen's-- if you want something approaching authentic, your best bet is the Traditional, but you'll have more fun if you go outside the chai box. This place can get crowded, especially during open mic events, but they've opened up more space recently and it's a fairly late night spot (great for students). The baristas are friendly and the Trabant's fair trade goals work in its favor.
