Bob Marley heeded his ego, not his conscience, when he broke up the Wailers--the TEAM that created "Burnin' and Lootin'," "Get Up, Stand Up," "Small Axe," etc.--and left Jamaica. Because of that ego, Marley/Tosh was like Lennon/McCartney if the partnership had been dissolved in '63--a tragic waste. Love of money led Rasta Bob to tone down his music's political content and let it become over-produced, "exotic" pop mush. If the man who sang "Soul Rebel" knew he'd someday write "Buffalo Soldier" and "Coming In From the Cold," he'd have offed himself.
