I can't stop listening to Christmas music. Specifically, I can't stop listening to Darlene Love's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)," the Waitresses "Christmas Wrapping," and Wham's "Last Christmas." With that said, I'll stick to more pertinent topics that you actually might have some sort of interest in now—I just thought you might appreciate knowing what this week's soundtrack was shaping up to be....

Anyway, about a month ago, I gleefully wrote up the show Matt & Kim were going to play at Camp Nowhere with the Pharmacy and the newly signed Holy Ghost Revival—I said it was going to be awesome, I said you should go, and then the day the paper went to press, the show was canceled and rescheduled for December. Way to crash the party. But hey, it's December! Brooklyn's enthusiastic and catchy dance duo, Matt & Kim, are going to be at Camp Nowhere for real Thursday, December 14, with the Pharmacy, Holy Ghost Revival, Orcateers, and Yes Oh Yes.

Matt & Kim themselves are reason enough to go (and if you've yet to pick up their self-titled debut on IHEARTCOMIX, I suggest you do so, assuming you're a fan of catchy and well-constructed keyboard dance pop), but also, the Pharmacy will be playing despite the fact that their keyboardist is currently nursing two broken wrists. Seriously. And the Holy Ghost Revival leave just after the New Year to tour Europe for a month, so they won't be playing local shows for a while—catch 'em while they're, uh, catchable.

A bit sooner than that, though, is the highly anticipated (at least for me) Mirah performance at the Downtown YMCA's Fusion Cafe. The show, presented by the Vera Project, also features Kimya Dawson, Teeth & Hair (hey, you read about them just a couple weeks ago!), and the Terrordactyls, a fairly adorable outfit from Olympia.

The show coincides nicely with the recent Mirah release, Joyride, a two-disc album of remixes on K Records. It's a little strange to hear Mirah's warm and familiar voice and melodies obviously being toyed with in a way that's completely out of her control—it's also interesting, though, to hear which direction other artists take her well-established songs. Favorite Mirah tunes like "Sweepstakes Prize," "Apples in the Trees," and "Don't Die in Me," are now prey to a new slew of flourishes and attitude thanks to the talented hands of Mirah's friends and fellow artists like Anna Oxygen, YACHT, Lucky Dragons, and Khaela Maricich (the Blow). The show starts at 7:00 p.m. and costs $6 at the door with a Vera Club Card ($7 without).

Now, back to George Michael—"Last Christmas, I gave you my heart..."
