If you're not already familiar, Har Mar's music is a sexy (and silly) mix of funky dance beats and grooves, and will be the perfect soundtrack for all the inevitable dance parties this summer.
Speaking of canceled shows, you may have already heard that this year's Sound and Fury skate competition was called off. It's hard times in the economic world, and apparently there wasn't enough money to make it work this time around. It's a bummer--but Thrash Bash is coming to the rescue! If you still need a skate fix, and have yet to check out the park over on Bainbridge Island, here's a perfect opportunity to do just that. On Saturday, April 26, there'll be an all-day BBQ at the Bainbridge Island Rotary Bowl (on Bainbridge Island, duh); records will be spinning and the grill will be fired up (ya gotta bring your own beef or veggie dogs). There won't be any official competitions like at Sound and Fury, but there will be prizes and other goodies given away to people flaunting the best tricks (or eating the most hot dogs). To get directions to the bowl, and for ferry times and whatnot, visit www.sleestak.net.

Oh, and while you're out picking up Har Mar Superstar's album, grab a copy of Black Eyes' debut album. Their self-titled record was just released on Dischord, and it's a-maz-ing! Spastic, screamy noise with two drummers--and holy cow it's insane how good this record is. They're coming to town in May to play an all-ages show, and of course I'll fill y'all in on the details then, because you're not gonna want to miss it. MEGAN SELING
