Once again, I'm torn. There are just way too many amazing things happening this week, and I'm far too indecisive to even attempt to narrow it down. So screw it; I won't narrow. I'll just tell you about all of 'em and leave the tough decisions to you. I'm a jerk. I'm sorry. (Not really, though.)

But before I get into what's happening, I have to thank them Californian kids, Ozma, for playing a really fun set at Studio Seven back on May 12. It was the first time Ozma headlined a show in Seattle, and they did an excellent job playing all the pop-rock gems the (very young) crowd wanted to hear. They also announced (to many fans' delight) that they'll be back in July, so hooray for that.

Also, how amazing was the Juno/Lungfish show at Graceland on May 15? Juno's set was wonderful, as usual, and they played a new song that sounded fantastic. And then Lungfish... well... I don't know how to describe Lungfish. The full-bearded singer, Dan Higgs, was crazy--balancing the mic stand on his face, stumbling around and falling on the stage. It was exhausting just watching him, but totally mesmerizing at the same time. Let's hope it doesn't take them another decade to come back around town.

Enough of the past; let's move on to the future. You might know by now that there's a goodbye party for Kate Becker happening at the Old Fire House on May 23. The Blood Brothers, Rocky Votolato, Akimbo, and the Hit will be playing, and the place is sure to be packed to the brim, so get there plenty early. Another Kate Becker celebration comes to the Vera Project on May 27, and Ian MacKaye will be in the house (yes, the Ian MacKaye) hosting a Q and A session. You can read more about Kate and both shows on page 31.

Another guaranteed great show is at 2nd Avenue Pizza on May 26 with Schoolyard Heroes, the HollowPoints, and Roy (a new band featuring members of an old favorite, Botch). And don't forget about the Divorce's May 23 all-ages CD release show at the Crocodile with Dolour, the Pale, and the Catch. I've heard the Divorce's new disc, There Will Be Blood Tonight, and it's a rock-and-roll extravaganza with plenty of attitude and pop--good stuff. They're playing two sets, and the all-ages show starts at 4 pm, so don't be late. It's rock for a good cause: Part of the evening's proceeds will be donated to the Vera Project. MEGAN SELING
