Want to see something really scary for Halloween this year? Just look through our massive Halloween listings on page 75 and see how little there is to do this Saturday night for those under 21. You can count the all-ages options on one hand! Even the usually underage-friendly Studio Seven turns its back on the kids for a 21-plus costume party and cover bands.

I guess all the teenagers can just go out and smash pumpkins, right?

Thankfully there are still some under-21 options to be found on All Hallows' Eve—for both the happiest and the saddest of trick-or-treaters.

At the Vera Project, one the most infectiously upbeat bands in the world, U.S.E, celebrate the release of their record Loveworld. As you should know by now, U.S.E's shows are feel-good, confetti-filled dance parties—like the ultimate sugar high without the lingering stomachache the next morning. Opening the show are an utterly charming Taiwanese band called WonFu. They play bright and catchy pop—imagine Throw Me the Statue with female harmonies... and, you know, from Taiwan.

But if fall's miserable, sunless days have already started toying with your psyche, you might be more comfortable at El Corazón for the Revival Tour with Chuck Ragan and Jim Ward. Ragan is best known as the frontman for the beloved on-again/off-again punk band Hot Water Music, but his acoustic solo material is less high-energy, anthemic sing-alongs and more downtrodden, country-tinged ballads. It's what you'd listen to if you were walking through the city at night. Alone. In the rain.

Finally, if you're old enough to vote and you want to keep Seattle's music community strong, remember to vote for Pete Holmes for city attorney—perhaps the scariest thing of all would be if Tom Carr was reelected. recommended
