SPORTS LIVE ON KEXP

SPORTS are a band that feels incredibly of-the-moment—they're net-savvy nostalgia-porn groovesters deluxe. The local trio jams on tracks with emoticons for titles ("<3?") and sings histrionically about "the days before Facebook and MySpace" with just the right amount of self-aware panache. (It's icing on the retro-junk cake that their recent full-length includes a fiery banger called "Memory Museum." Naturally, it's available on cassette as well as CD and digital.) The band's kaleidoscopic live projections—sadly lost to radio listeners—are a lysergic stew of animated GIFs and SNES-era optics. However, their Rapture-ous electro should still sound perfectly boss on this Audioasis broadcast. KEXP 90.3 FM, 6 pm.
