Viengthong is not a restaurant that goes out of its way to be noticed—it's in a small strip mall one block north of where MLK meets Rainier. But it's cozy inside, and here you'll find some of the city's best Thai and Laotian food.
My friends and I love to go eat at this restaurant. Papaya salad, bbq chicken, lab gai and sticky rice are so delicious. I also like their Phad Lao noodle and Lao beef jerky. Price is good and it's ok to use hands when eating Lao food...esp sticky rice :)

I am Lao and I have eaten at this Viengthong many times. The owners are Lao and so is the food. I am sick and tired of the Thai taking credit for all the things that are not theirs. The laab, sticky rice, the papaya salad are all Lao. Yes, I know there are 25 million ethnic Lao living in Thailand and they are Thai citizens, but they are linguistically culturally and ethnically Lao. The get my point across, just because the US serves tacos doesn't make taco an American food, it is still Mexican.

Lao food is one of the greatest and healthiest cuisines. I love the food. TASTE LIKE NO OTHER CUISINE ON EARTH!!!
I heard ingredients such as, chillies, garlic and onions used in Lao cooking decreases bad cholesterol and controls blood pressure.

after seeing this review last weekend, we tried it and loved it. had the spicy beef salad, a chicken curry and Pad Lao. So great. It's relatively close to us and we are definitely going back. Cannot wait, in fact.

I went to this restaurant having read the past reviews and hoping I'd go to Lao-Thai heaven but it was not to happen. I had the deep fried egg rolls and they were above average but the Pad Lao (Pad Thai-like noodles) let me down. They were soupy and the variety of flavors did nothing to challenge my taste buds since there was nothing else in them but a few cut scallions, bean sprouts, and chicken I had to try to find in the dish. My partner had the spicy beef salad and she seemed to like it. The iced coffee tasted like melted coffee ice cream... very sweet but not as yummy as the Vietnamese variety. Probably won't be going back.

I live in Lynnwood so driving down to Seattle is a pretty far commute to go to Viengthong, but definitely worth the drive. I have eaten at many Thai restaurants and nothing compares to this restaurant...i must say it is because the food is Laotion Style and not Thai. Thai food is very bland compared to what this restaurant offers and each dish has so much flavor. My favorite is the papaya salad 5 stars..but i warn you, only try the 5 stars if you can definitely handle spicy food. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves ethnic food. Once you try it, there is no way you won't go back.

I go there countless times, the food is great and I loved it. Sad to say I will never return to that place ever again! My boyfriend and I were the last customer to leave and I forgot my expensive shades on the table where we sat at. After leaving for 2 minutes we return to grab it, they denied even seeing it. Therefore they stole my belonging, what kind of restaurant does that?
