Self-service cafe by day, casual restaurant by night, and delicious all the livelong day, Vios is a culinary universe unto itself. Sit at one of the long wood tables and enjoy a legitimate Greek feast, from the egg dishes, yogurts, and sandwiches of breakfast and lunch to the tasty entrées and flowing wine of the evening. (There is also excellent take-out from the deli counter.) Note with joy or be warned: Vios is extremely kid-friendly—children may be hurled into a toy-pit, where they make various degrees of noise amusing themselves. Vios' second location, at Third Place Books in Ravenna, also serves the delicious, affordable Greek food that has made the Capitol Hill location so beloved.

The staff is great, the food is good,

but the portions are very small and the prices aren't that cheap. It's a fantastic Capitol Hill location if you have kids but if you are kid intolerant, it's not such a good choice. And the front door area is always chaotic and poorly organized.

Great Lamb, Terrible Value

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. The consistency with which Vios prepares and serves perfectly spiced and cooked lamb is remarkable. Their baba ganouj, tzasiki, hummous, and other dips have great flavor and texture. But on the other hand, their portion sizes are abysmal, especially given the price of a sandwich is $7 and a salad/side usually starts at another $6 . I am not a big eater, but I have never been fully sated by any combination of entree and side dish I have had there. I'd also been looking forward to trying their octopus and chickpea salad only to find that it was extremely bland with very little octopus. What pieces of octopus were to be found were overcooked, totally losing the pliant and playful texture that I typically savor. I really do think their food is generally of a high quality but their disproportionate prices have me running for the nearest falafel truck I can find.

Great greek food

Come in a group of 4-6, order a bunch of their dishes and share and you'll have a fabulous time. This is high quality food with a super down home feel.

Spectacular!!

The food is ALWAYS fresh and the right mix of ingredients. From hot, fresh pitas, to hummus to the greek salad, this place is unbelievable. A must-try and a great atmosphere.

Food and Kids

Great place. Smart delicious greek food. The tzadciki really kicks ass. The specialty items they sell like bulk olive oil and farro are great. But the place is kid friendly to a fault. If you have kids or don't mind a ton of kids eat there before 8pm. After 8pm you're usually OK.
