Yesterday KOMO News ground out a quick story about Seattle Mayor Ed Murray's decision to ban official travel to Mississippi—which Murray did after the governor of that state signed a bill that legalized discrimination against LGBT people (and straight cohabitors and single parents and non-married sexually-active straight people, etc.)—and all hell broke loose after KOMO News tossed it up on their Facebook page...

There's a lot more where that came from. So, yeah, if you ever get depressed about the discourse on any of the local blogs you frequent or write for—ahem—or get depressed by the shit that goes down on your Twitter feed... just drop in on the Facebook page of your local TV news station for a little perspective.

And it never hurts to be reminded that bigots aren't only found in shitty-and-getting-shittier states like North Carolina or Mississippi. We've got our fair share of bigots and haters around here too. They just don't make up a majority of our registered voters—at least not yet.
