KEXP's Swingin' Doors host Don Slack will pay tribute to the late outlaw country-music legend Merle Haggard from 6 to 9 this evening. Yesterday on Slog, Ned Lannamann wrote of the beloved, hard-living singer/songwriter/guitarist:

[Haggard's] songwriting was peerless, his delivery was authoritative and wholly credible, and his music illustrated a slice of American life that was utterly devoid of glamour. His songs occurred in a place where poverty, crime, god, and family formed the backbone of existence, where love is a luxury, where hard work's reward wasn't necessarily a monetary one.
