This week we’re going to focus on two things: weed and campus protest. First, the campus protest. Up at Western Washington University in Bellingham, a group that’s calling itself the Student Assembly for Power and Liberation is issuing sweeping demands for change at the well-known liberal arts college. There’s a lot of concern, however, that the students' demands run counter to principles of free speech and academic freedom.
At 1:41 I talk to Aisha Addish, a Western Washington University student who’s part of the Assembly for Power and Liberation.
Then, at 20:08, I share the university administration’s response to the students' demands.
After that, at 21:38 former Stranger staffer David Schmader, who wrote the beloved and long-running column Last Days, is on to talk about his great new book, WEED: THE USER’S GUIDE, which came out this week.
Plus, as always, the music of Ahamefule J. Oluo!
