Grammy-winning jazz-centric hiphop group Digable Planets—featuring Shabazz Palaces' Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler, Mary Ann "Ladybug Mecca" Vieira, and Craig "Doodlebug" Irving—will be doing a reunion tour starting May 28 at Sasquatch! and then resuming July 2 in New Orleans before concluding August 18 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The coolest, suavest rap collective of the '90s split in 1995, but regrouped in 2005 and 2011; that's how strong their street- and book-smart rap game is. With '90s nostalgia in full bloom, it makes sense for another go-'round for Digable, whose all-time Afrocentric classic, Blowout Comb, was reissued on wax in 2013 by Light in the Attic (augmented by Stranger columnist Larry Mizell Jr.'s liner notes). Check out the tour itinerary and one of DP's best tracks—which samples one of Mizell's father's compositions, Bobbi Humphrey's "Blacks and Blues"—after the jump.
