Alton Sterling, 37, was killed late Monday night when a police officer pinned him down and fatally shot him outside of a convenience store in Baton Rouge, La. He died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The Nightly Show host Larry Wilmore on Sterling's murder:

"The punishment for resisting arrest shouldn't be death. The punishment for selling bootleg CDs shouldn't be death. The punishment for having a gun in an open-carry state shouldn't be death. The punishment for being a black man shouldn't be death."

Not even 48 hours later, Philando Castile, 32, was gunned down by police after he was pulled over for a broken tail light in Falcon Heights, Minn. His girlfriend, Diamond "Lavish" Reynolds livestreamed the aftermath on Facebook. Castile later died of his wounds at a hospital.
