Paula King came to Cleveland from Hallettsville, Texas to help secure the nomination of Donald Trump. “It’s the only way to save America,” she says. “This is the important time. This is our last chance. Look at how the world is falling apart right now.” She sees no way that Trump can lose the election, but she says that if he does, “I’ll just go off grid, because Hillary’s gonna kill us all.” King lives with her mother, and says she spends her time listening to talk radio, especially Alex Jones’s InfoWars. “I’m 60, but I’m not old enough to die yet,” she says. “Besides, I’ve got grandkids. One of them gets it, for sure. But I’ve got a granddaughter who thinks,” — she pauses and lowers her voice — “she thinks that Black lives matter.” She brightens. “That’s fine, though! As long as you believe in something!”
