Effete don't fail them now. Soren Solkaer

One might not associate twee-pop artists with athletic competitions, but in the case of Belle and Sebastian one would be wrong. The band's catalog is packed with sports references (especially to track & field, the greatest sport) so it's not a huge surprise to see thatStuart Murdochand company have written a new song and created a video laced with footage from past and present Olympic events called "Olympic Village, 6AM." Written as a tribute to the ongoing Rio games, the song's an instrumental that moves at a swift pace—for B&S, anyway—and gallantly ascends with triumphant flourishes of keyboards and wind instruments. It sounds like a prime slice of library music from the KPM vaults circa 1977. It deserves at least a silver medal. At least.
