Jackson's Catfish Corner Could Reopen as Soon as Today! South Seattleites were distraught when the long-time family-owned business suddenly shuttered at the end of July, prompting his mother and community residents to launch a GoFundMe campaign. However, the South Seattle Emerald reports, the closure was only temporary while restaurant-owner Terrell Jackson renewed his lease. Although the restaurant is slotted to reopen this week, Jackson told the Emerald that they are still struggling with paying their $4,000 monthly rent on the restaurant, so support is appreciated.

The Pilchuck River Will Try Out a New Color This Season: Pink, specifically. Researchers in the state Ecology Department will add a non-toxic dye to the river, which runs through Snohomish County, to test its water quality. Currently, the Associated Press notes, the Pilchuck doesn't meet clean-water standards and stretches of the river do not have enough oxygen for fish and other aquatic life.

Washington's GOP Is Vying for Control of the Legislature: They haven't held a majority in 18 years, so, naturally, the race is getting tense. State Democrats need to pick up just two more seats to reclaim both chambers, KPLU reported. Washington Senate Democratic Campaign committee organizer Adam Bartz told the station that "they’ve just passed the halfway point, the primary, neck and neck. And it’s likely to still be close at the November finish line."

Another Violent Night in Milwaukee: Police officers fatally shot 23-year-old Sylville Smith in Milwaukee, Wisc. on Saturday, which resulted in two days of unrest. During the protests, an 18-year-old man was shot and was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. "Just after midnight, lines of police holding riot gear began moving down Burleigh Street telling people they were in an unlawful assembly. Several protesters were handcuffed and taken into custody after they refused repeated requests to leave the area," USA Today reported.
