"In The Last Few Years, Seven Cars and 35 bikes Have Been Left Aboard Ferries": It's one thing to forget a bike on a ferry; it's completely another to forget a whole car. And the fact the latter has happened not just once but several times, reveals the kind of society we find ourselves in in the age of climate change. Cars are so general, so common, so numerous that they can be completely forgotten. 4000 pounds of metal and plastic can slip from an American's attention with the same ease as a set of keys. This, one must admit, is a remarkable state of things.

Bill Nye Premieres New Talk Show on Netflix Next Spring: It will be called Bill Nye Saves the World and will dispel myths and set the truth straight. But Nye, whose image was launched to the spheres of national fame by PBS’s science show Bill Nye the Science Guy, should really call his new TV show: Bill Nye Tells It Like It Is, which was certainly what he did when interviewed on CNN about the recent floods in Louisiana. What did Nye say? "This [flood] is a result of climate change, [and] it's only going to get worse." And what will happen as it gets worse? "People will have to move out." Now, that's telling it just like it is.

On the topic of climate change: Should voters in this state be supporting a new tax on carbon this fall? Or is this particular carbon tax not doing enough for the very communities that are most vulnerable to climate change? This is the debate on this week's Blabbermouth podcast.

Erin Jones, Who Is In a Contest to Become Washington's Next Superintendent of Public Instruction, Responded on Facebook to The Stranger's Decision to Rescind its Endorsement of Her: The gist of her open letter? She regrets using "overly equivocal wording on issues related to the LGBTQ community."

Back to the Motel: KOMO News reports that a shooting at Motel 6 in Sea-Tac ended with one man dead and another injured. All involved work at one of the many construction projects in the area. All were staying in the motel as the project progressed. The reason for the shooting? An argument that reached a point of no return. At that terrible moment the suspect "pulled out a gun and shot killed one of the construction workers." If you are looking for a mental folder to file this sad incident, it should be this one: Began with a shove and ended with a shovel.

This Man Is Not God: A Bothell teacher who in May was found "bleeding with a zip tie around his neck [and a] note nearby that read 'This man is not god,'" admitted to the police earlier this month that the reason they found so many inconsistencies in his story is because he made it all up. The attack never happened. He staged the whole thing because he, like millions of other Americans, is "under a mountain of debt."

SpaceX Rocket Explodes on Launch Pad: A rocket made by a company owned by the billionaire Elon Musk exploded during a test launch at Cape Canaveral. If this had not happened, if all had gone as planned, the rocket would have sent Facebook's first satellite into Earth's orbit on September 3.

Florida Braces for Tropical Storm Hermine: Heavy rains, tornadoes, and floods are expected when Hermine makes landfall as "a category one hurricane."

Trump Goes to Mexico, Meet's the Country's President but Fails to Mention the Wall and Who Will Pay For It: Hours later, however, he shows up at a rally in Arizona and tells his fans that Mexico will definitely pay for this wall. The Mexican president was of another mind. He tweeted that he made it clear to Trump "that Mexico will not pay for the wall.”

The thing that's becoming more and more worrying is the level of mental stress caused by the unprecedented amount of crazies in this presidential race. Indeed, in the office of this paper, the failure to make sense of Trump's campaign and followers has triggered door slams and the snapping of nerves. It is possible that we as a society may not reach the end of this election year with our wits about us.
