police work is bone chilling.
2
@1: such a lickspittle.

if you can't handle the pressure of police work without shooting unarmed black men to death, don't do it. blacks in Tulsa would probably riot, but, you know, they already got burned out and massacred once already.

3
@3 chill, Max. we are not your problemā€¦

28
@2: no, you are part of the problem, lickspittle. what would it take for you to see a police killing as unjustified? would it have to be your own?

& FFS, are you part of a committee of sovereign citizens, posting 17 times in 7 minutes? or is it the royal "we"?
29
Ooooh, let me get my camera-- I've never seen 24 comments get deleted in one go!

Comments Comitatus. All of the following are true:
- There are more great cops than bad cops.
- Bad news makes news, good news does not.
- More African Americans are disproportionately killed and harassed by cops than other groups.

You can put away your outrage-o-meter, stop manning your battle stations, calm down, and try to think of more productive commentary than these silly sophomoric rapid fires.
31
Do you hear the pitch of that voice.

Kneecapping works.

The guy who stopped in traffic on I-5, spray painted a green circle around himself, and stood in the circle with a knife?

He deserved a bullet to the thigh.

well, OK
supper's waitingā€¦..

28
there absolutely are unjustified police killings
the police have a dangerous job and are probably scared shitless several times a day (they would not be human if they were not) and undoubtedly make errors.
And when they do the system calls them to account.
(the fact that juries all across the nation of all races and backgrounds frequently refuse to indict/convict suggest most citizens appreciate the stresses the officers operate under.
even Baltimore juriesā€¦)

calling those errors Cold Blooded Murder is factually wrong, inflammatory and makes the situation worse for everyone.

in fact, its just bone chillingā€¦..

@32: That's right. Aunt Bee is serving chipped beef on toast along with her famous potato salad. Don't forget to wash your hands before dinner.
36
@29: then why do i still see this drivel?

A. It's after 5

B. He's catlick

C. He hasn't messed up any of the labels they learned in their classes.

Mix and match.
38
@33: So, what exactly do you call the homicide of Laquan McDonald then, if not "cold-blooded murder"?
There are lawful-but-awful shootings. There are improper shootings that, while justifying the firing of an officer, don't rise to the level of manslaughter or murder. And then there are some shootings in which the officer involved is so utterly without justification for his use of force, and in which the evidence is so cut-and-dry, that it constitutes murder.

Say, any word yet on how many such deaths per year it would take before you admit it's a serious problem? This question won't go away until you either answer it or stop posting, you know.
39
@33, I'm a daily bicycle commuter. Shitty, menacing drivers scare me shitless more often than I'd like. Shall I start carrying a gun and emptying my magazine at them every time it happens?

No. If you cannot temper your fear with reason and deliberation, you have no fucking business carrying a gun, or being a cap.
40
... or being a cop, that is.
41
The officer has been charged w 1st degree murder, the system seems to be working.
The man shot was armed with a knife and refused to obey officers' instructions, the officer said he feared the armed man would attack him, the video doesn't seem to support his version of events.

The jury hasn't ruled yet but we already put him on the list in an earlier thread (the list has two names so far)

It is interesting to note this took place in the hometown of our Democratic President,
a city with Democratic government going back as 85 years.
Chicago's murder rate is stratospheric and climbing fast;
80% of the cases go unsolved.
42
@39

Have at it.
43
@41: Your convictions are not negated by simply acknowledging venomlash's points in @38.
44
43

His point that there has been one unjustified killing by police?
45
One would think an African-American man, in this media climate, who had done prison time for carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest (as Crutcher had), would know that refusing to obey police orders assumes some risk.

This was suicide by cop. Nothing more.
46
@41: Your evidence that the system works is that, in one particular case, the officer was indeed charged. No mention of the fact that the damning evidence (the dashcam footage) was deliberately kept under wraps FOR OVER A YEAR and that activists had to fight like hell to get the footage released!
If the system worked properly, the officer in question would have been charged within a month of the shooting, and other officers wouldn't have falsified their reports to cover for the bastard (for which several of them are now losing their jobs).

@44: I can add to the list of names, but first I need to know how many you're looking for. How long does the list have to be before you will admit that there's an actual problem?
47
@41: "Chicago's murder rate is stratospheric"
Literally not even in the top 15 among major American cities. And the worst offenders have a murder rate THREE TIMES that of the Windy City.
Same old lie, same old bullshit as always.
48
@46
True, Chicago's Democratic establishment is incredibly corrupt.

Sure you canā€¦.
49
@47
You're OK with this, right?

Dan Hinkel Contact Reporter
Chicago Tribune

"Chicago's per capita homicide rate climbed over the last decade, and the chances of an African-American being killed in the city spiked drastically, according to a new report.

"From 2005 to 2015, the city went from 17.3 homicides per 100,000 residents to a rate of about 18.8, according to a report from the Injury Prevention and Research Center at the Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.

"But the report held particularly troubling news for African-Americans. The rate for blacks in Chicago jumped from 36.1 homicides per 100,000 residents in 2005 to 46.5 a decade later. Other studies have shown steep drops in the city's African-American population in recent years, but crime figures remain stubbornly high in many largely black neighborhoods.

" People ages 20 to 24 had the highest homicide rate in 2015, with 64.3 killings per 100,000."

Wait!
It gets better!ā„¢

(same article, Chicago Tribune)

"Shootings are surging in 2016, and Mayor Rahm Emanuel faces pressure to squelch street violence while he also deals with public outrage over use of force by police. Controversy over policing in Chicago erupted late last year after the release of video of a white officer shooting black teenager Laquan McDonald 16 times, and many see the uptick in gun violence as the result of police reducing their activity in the face of public criticism.

""The study found that homicide rates for white people have decreased in the past decade, from 4.4 homicides per 100,000 in 2005 to 2.7 in 2015ā€¦."

You're fine with the status quo, right White Boy?
51
The MURDER rate for Chicago Blacks is 47/100,000-
for Whites 3/100,000.

You think a MURDER rate more than SEVENTEEN TIMES as high is OK for Blacks, Right?

You think they should keep voting for Democraps and be grateful. Right?
52
Those stats were thru 2015, but, wait;

IT GETS BETTER!ā„¢

USA Today
April 2016

"CHICAGO ā€” Murders in the nation's third-largest city are up about 72%, while shootings have surged more than 88% in the first three months of 2016 compared with the same period last year, according to data released Friday by the Chicago Police Department.

"Police said the disturbing rise in violence is driven by gangs and mostly contained to a handful of pockets on the city's South and West sides.

ā€œWhile CPD will remain tireless in its efforts to hold criminals accountable for their actions, we all have a part to play in creating a safer Chicago,ā€ newly appointed interim Superintendent Eddie Johnson said in a statement. ā€œIn the coming weeks and months, I plan on meeting with and listening to a range of Chicagoans ā€” from activists and elected officials to ministers and parents ā€” to find ways that we can come together to build mutual trust and lasting partnerships that will make our streets safer for everyone.ā€

"The city has seen 141 murders this year, compared with 82 murders at the same point last year. Police reported 677 shootings this year compared with 359 at the same point last year.

The grim rise in violence comes after the Chicago Police Department reported 468 murders in 2015, a 12.5% increase from the year before. There were 2,900 shootings in 2015, 13% more than the year before, according to Police Department records.

"The rise in violence comes as the police department reported a decrease in investigative stops by cops on the streets during the first two months of the year. The police department entered an agreement with the American Civil Liberties Union, which went into effect Jan. 1, to record contact cards for all street stops after the organization criticized the city's police for disproportionately targeting minorities for questioning and searches."
53
Wait!

It Gets Even Better!!ā„¢

80% of the murders in Chicago go unsolved.
Witnesses know the police are pussywhipped by the ACLU and BLM and Leftist Bedwetters.
Witnesses know police hands are tied.
The criminals run the show is Chicago's under assault neighborhoods and everybody knows itā€¦..
54
Here is your homework Junior;

calculate how many more black Chicagoans have been MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD by predators since McDonald was killed compared to the already STRATOSPHERIC murder rate in the city before that point.

Then ask BLM if they have apologized to those black Chicagoans' familiesā€¦...
55
Did you know Baltimore also saw an already high murder rate explode after their police were targeted by a corrupt politically motivated (and really shittily inept) BLM stooge prosecutor?
56
Wow, somebody has been a busy boy. Try harnessing that energy by doing some good in your community rather than posting on blogs.

And just so you know, as a (formerly as of about a year ago) Baltimore resident, the uptick in murders and other violent crime following the Freddie Gray riots were not a result of Marilyn Mosby or any kind of BLM messaging. It was because a big pharmacy got looted and the influx of drugs led to more violence.
57
@56
That's interesting.
Baltimore Sun had an article in June that mentioned that as well:

"Baltimore had the highest increase in homicides in the nation last year, a criminologist commissioned by the U.S. Department of Justice reported, with more than twice as many extra killings as the three cities that tied for second.

"The city suffered 127 more homicides in 2015 than in the previous year, Richard Rosenfeld wrote in "Documenting and Explaining the 2015 Homicide Rise: Research Directions," released this month by the Justice Department.

"Chicago, Houston and Milwaukee came in second with 61 more killings. Cleveland and Washington had 57 more.

"Rosenfeld, a professor of criminology at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, evaluated data from 56 U.S. cities and found that the most dramatic increases in homicides from 2014 to 2015 occurred in cities with more than 1 million people, with high poverty rates and large populations of African-Americans.

"While Baltimore had the largest increase in absolute numbers, it had the fourth-largest percentage increase.

"Homicides in Baltimore jumped by 58.5 percent last year. Cleveland saw a 90.5 percent increase to lead the nation. Nashville, Tenn., was second with 82.9 percent; Milwaukee was third with 72.6 percent.

"Rosenfeld identifies three "plausible explanations" behind the increases: a drug market expanding in response to the heroin epidemic, an increase in prisoners being released and a "Ferguson effect," following the deaths of young black men in confrontations with police.

"The Ferguson effect refers to a comment first made by Sam Dotson, chief of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, who said a shift of police resources toward protests and rioting after the death of Michael Brown contributed to an increase in crime, and criminals felt more "empowered."

58
A couple of things are clear:

> there is a recent huge upsurge in murder, concentrated in cities and disproportionately in African-American populations.

> whatever number of people, of any race, killed by police unjustified is too many;
but the actual number is small and literally insignificant
compared to the massive slaughter at the hands of criminals

In light of those two facts the attention by the Left and BLM on the police and ignoring the surge in crime is puzzling at best, but mostly diabolical and bone-chillingā€¦.
59
Ego tripping mother fucker.
60
Good by for a while, Slog. I'll be back in a few weeks to check if your troll problem is under control.
61
@60
Take care. I always like attitude and values you bring.
62
So, Alleged, do you have any evidence that Chicago's murder rate is actually "stratospheric" as you claim? (Even if the murder rate were to DOUBLE overnight, it still wouldn't crack the top five, among major American cities.) I mean, I didn't think you'd be able to tell the difference between a function and its derivative, but I figured I'd give you a chance. I guess calculus goes on that list as well.

And of course, still no answer as to how many wrongful killings by police it would take to constitute a problem. It's not a question that requires a lot of brainpower to answer, but apparently you fail even that.
Say, do you believe that lynching was ever a serious problem in America?
63
@51: Heck, you can't even do simple arithmetic. Either you're rounding in nonstandard and irresponsible ways, or you actually believe that 3*17<47
64
@63 reckons that as long as Chiraq isn't as shitty as Baltimore, it's necessarily a scrutiny-free paradise.

@63
is your degree from an online community trade school?
refer to @49 and @50
divide 46.5 by 2.7 and get 17.22
now go stand in the corner...
66
@65: My degree is from a top-five institution.
Rounding in nonstandard and irresponsible ways it is...better put introductory statistics on that too.

Again, lest you forget:
How many wrongful killings of unarmed black men by police each year will it take to constitute, in your opinion, a serious problem? It's not a hard question.

@64: If Chicago really has such a horrific crime problem, why do you feel the need to exaggerate the scale of the issue?
67
We are starting to become embarrassed for you.
Besides, you are not supposed to post or talk while sitting in the corner wearing the dunce cap.
68
@67:

There you go with that royal "we" again. Are you truly a member of some titled hereditary lineage, or rather, is there simply more than one voice speaking inside your head at the same time?
69
@67: This from the ignoramus who doesn't know a function from its derivative...
Who's "we"? You got a mouse in your pocket? If so, please let the mouse post for you.

And again, how many wrongful killings of unarmed black men by police each year will it take to constitute, in your opinion, a serious problem?
70
Expect more mayhem in Charlotte.
The long-suffering minorities there are sick and tired of racist black cops shooting armed black menā€¦.
