"The Pantsuit Nation's flag flies at half-mast." I love that! And I will steal it....

Never understood why GG fans thought Rory was so great. She was sweet during the first few seasons, then she cheated on her first boyfriend with boring emo Jess, whom then up and left town after a cliche emo tantrum. Then she dumped her Harvard dream for Yale, got totally obsessed with those boring rich boys for no apparent reason other than that she became one of them (like Logan said, she went to private school, then Yale, where her grandparents were paying for a bloody BUILDING for her!!!). Had an affair with her ex and destroyed his marriage, then ran off for a trip to Europe instead of sticking around for mea culpas or facing the mess. Then stole a boat, didn't have to face any consequences, dropped out then dropped back in, all the while never EVER have to do any work at all or ever even tried to pay her own way. First she lived on her single mom, then her rich grandparents, then her rich boyfriend! Did the girl ever have a part time or summer job like Lane?

The 32 yo Rory is just what the younger Rory would turn out to be, why is everyone so surprised? She never had to do anything difficult or make any sacrifices, her mom did it all for her. And she has a trust fund, and now also whatever money her grandfather left her when he died. Why would she not expect to just be given the jobs she wants without making much of an effort? Rory Gilmore is no Veronica Mars!

I've always wondered if the Palladinos's world view is the same as those of the Life and Death Brigade's golden-spoon bores. The way their antics were written made it seem as if we should admire them, especially that umbrella jumping scene. Did Amy S-P steal that from Practical Magic?

The thing that is interesting to me about all this is how people have been reacting to Gilmore Girls.

There's this article, the other review on Slog, and the first thing Slog put out that I now use as an example of "we aren't taking about XYZ anymore, are we?" in our current cultural climate.

Not to mention the Rune Soup blog post where the author talks about how the Gilmore Girls reboot is an example of good nostalgia.

Considering that I didn't like the show the first time(it felt very "not for me" in a way that is difficult for me to put my finger on) I don't really have a dog in the fight.

Because realism isn't what persons look to these shows for, you want to see the young loser evolve into at least an interesting older loser?

I mean, did anyone care about the characters over the repartee?

Please wait...
