Well, it's official: In a 52-47 vote, the United States Senate confirmed Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) as attorney general. To recap, Jeff Sessions was once deemed "too racist" to become a federal judge, he's known for his opposition to legalizing weed, and last night, it was during his confirmation hearing that Senator Elizabeth Warren was cut off while reading a letter by Coretta Scott King, though in this case, it was Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell being rude on Sessions's behalf.

Washington Democratic Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell voted against Sessions' confirmation, according to reports from the New York Times. West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin III was the only democratic senator to vote "yes" at the confirmation hearing.

In a statement sent out yesterday, Murray said she had "serious concerns about [Sessions'] commitment to standing up for the right of everyone in this country to be treated equally under the law." But here we are.
