A tanker carrying butane overturned on the I-5 today, leading to the closure of the freeway in both directions. Don't expect a resolution to this mess anytime soon, WSDOT says. Do expect a lot of congestion everywhere, as a result of it.

For those of you who can not exit the freeway, switch off your ignition.

• Have lunch. Apparently, a taco truck on the freeway has been feeding the stuck.

• Read the first chapter of 1Q84. The novel opens with its protagonist Aomame sitting in an unmoving taxi. Like in your case, a major accident has shut the road down completely. At this rate, she's not going to make her appointment. Unless... At the non-suggestion suggestion of her driver, she steps out of the car, walks (in a short skirt and heels!) along the freeway shoulder, and uses emergency stairs to get out of the jam.
